Setting Up Newsbin Pro for Usenet Access

Newsbin Pro is a powerful tool for accessing Usenet articles through advanced filtering and automation. This guide explains how to configure Newsbin Pro to work with Tweaknews.

 


Step 1: Install Newsbin Pro

Visit the Newsbin Pro Website to install the latest version. During installation, the Setup Wizard will ask for the following:

  • Server Name (e.g., Tweaknews)

  • Server Address: news.tweaknews.eu

  • Username and Password: Provided in your Tweaknews welcome email or found in the Tweaknews Member area (https://www.tweaknews.eu/en/member).

These details can also be configured or edited after installation.

Step 2: Add or Edit Server Information (optional)

Once Newsbin is installed:

  1. Launch Newsbin Pro.

  2. Go to Options > Servers.

  3. Select your existing server or click New Server to create a new one.

Use the following settings:

  • Server Name: Tweaknews

  • Server Address: news.tweaknews.eu

  • Port: 563 (SSL) or 119 (non-SSL)

  • Username and Password: Use your Tweaknews credentials

  • Connections: Up to 60

  • SSL: Enabled (recommended)

Step 3: Configure Group List and Refresh Options

Before using the service:

  1. On the main screen, click Download the Latest Group Updates to retrieve the full list of newsgroups.

  2. Once groups are updated, you can search, add, or browse newsgroups.

Step 4: Start Accessing Usenet Articles

With your server and group list configured, you're ready to begin accessing newsgroups through the Newsbin Pro interface. Make sure your connection settings align with your subscription limits.
