Move Your Newsbin Environment

Transferring Newsbin to another system is easy with the following steps:

  1. Install on Target System: Install and register Newsbin on the new machine.

  2. Copy the Data Path: Find your existing DATA folder via Options > Setup and copy it to your new setup.

  3. Move Window Settings: Copy Guiitems.db3 to C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\newsbin to retain tab layouts.

  4. Use Existing Configuration: Locate and copy the .NBI file. Start Newsbin by double-clicking it.

  5. Changing the Newsbin Data Folder location:

    • Use "Save Configuration As" or check the Newsbin title bar to find your configuration file.

    • Use "Open Data Folder" in Options > Setup to view your current Data location.

    • Close Newsbin.

    • Open the .NBI configuration file in a text editor after making a backup.

    • Change the DataPath entry under the [Settings] section.

    • Transfer the data from the old folder to the new one.

    • Launch Newsbin using the updated .NBI file.

  6. Launch Using Saved Configuration: After the first launch, Newsbin will remember and use the copied configuration.

Queued items must be manually updated via "Download to Folder" if the path changes.
