Enhancing SABnzbd Performance

Improve SABnzbd speed with Tweaknews using the guide below.

1. Apply SSL and Use Tweaknews Server Details

Within Settings > Servers, configure:

  • Host: news.tweaknews.eu

  • Port: 563

  • SSL: Checked

  • Connections: Tweaknews supports up to 60—begin with 10–20 and adjust upward as needed.

2. Keep SABnzbd Up to Date for Compatibility

Update SABnzbd to its latest stable version to benefit from improved performance tuning and enhanced connection handling with Tweaknews.

3. Schedule SABnzbd During Low-Traffic Times

Using SABnzbd during high traffic times may slow it down. Schedule activity for early mornings or late evenings for better performance.

4. Pause Cloud Sync Tools While Using SABnzbd

Tools like Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive may consume upload bandwidth, which can reduce SABnzbd speeds.

5. Disable IPv6 If Connection Stability Is a Concern

IPv6 network behavior may lead to inconsistent performance. Disabling it in Settings > Special > Switches can sometimes stabilize SABnzbd speed.

6. Use a Wired Connection Instead of Wi-Fi

Switching to Ethernet can reduce packet loss and improve SABnzbd’s response and transfer rates.

7. Monitor Indexer and Automation Timing

Tools that manage SABnzbd may delay queue updates. Check for delays with your Indexers or automation services.

8. Fine-Tune SABnzbd Queue and Post-Processing

Look in Settings > Switches for unnecessary steps in queue processing and adjust to speed up execution.

9. Raise Article Cache Limit If RAM Allows

Increase memory cache settings if hardware permits. This allows SABnzbd to hold more data in RAM, accelerating handling.

10. Reduce SABnzbd Logging Detail

Switch logging to "+info" or "Errors/Warnings" by clicking the wrench icon on the main page of SABnzbd to conserve system resources.

11. Store Temporary Data on SSD

Use SSDs for temporary storage paths to reduce latency and boost SABnzbd's throughput.
