Tweaknews Speed Tips for GrabIt Users

Improve GrabIt’s Responsiveness with These Tweaknews Adjustments

1. Use the Correct Tweaknews Server Settings

Check that you're using:

  • Server: news.tweaknews.eu

  • Port: 563 with SSL

  • Use 10–15 connections for best results

2. Enable SSL

How to enable SSL when using Easynews in GrabIt:

  • Locate the Easynews server entry in the left-hand panel and right-click it.

  • Select Server Properties.

  • In the dialog that appears, check the option Encrypted server connection (SSL).

  • When prompted, confirm by clicking Yes so GrabIt can set the secure port (563) for you.

Activating SSL enhances security and may reduce connectivity issues on some Internet setups.

3. Prioritize Tweaknews in Server List

Set Tweaknews as the first server in your list to avoid unnecessary delays from other services.

4. Schedule Usage for Off-Hours

Off-peak hours may offer a smoother experience due to lower network traffic.

5. Restart GrabIt if a Refresh Freezes

Group refreshes may hang near completion. A full restart usually clears the issue.

6. Keep GrabIt Updated

If you're using an older version of GrabIt, visit the official site to install the latest release for improved performance and compatibility.

7. Use Ethernet for Stability

Tweaknews users seeking consistent GrabIt performance should prefer wired connections to reduce interruptions.

8. Calibrate Batch Settings to System Resources

Visit Preferences > Batch to adjust task handling based on your RAM and Internet performance.

9. Optimize Save Location

Make sure GrabIt writes to an SSD or internal drive, not network or USB storage. Change this in Preferences > Folders.

10. Stop When Space Is Low

Enable "Automatically pause batch" in Preferences > Advanced so GrabIt halts before disk issues occur.

11. Disable Extra Checks on Older Machines

Turning off multipart and single error checks in Preferences > Advanced may increase speed.

12. Reclaim Memory by Managing Cache

Limit cache size under Preferences > History to improve responsiveness.

13. Limit Overlapping Tasks

Disable simultaneous repair and batch processes in Preferences > Repair and Extract for better speed.

14. Skip Retry for Missing Articles

In Preferences > Advanced, uncheck "Continue downloading on article not found error" to avoid waste.

15. Tweak and Test

Different setups respond differently. Try multiple settings and check the GrabIt Help Center for more ideas.
