Maximizing Speeds with UsenetWire on Tweaknews

UsenetWire is optimized to work directly with Tweaknews’s high-speed Usenet backbone. If you're encountering slower-than-expected performance, the following steps can help enhance speed and reliability.

Tune Connection Settings

UsenetWire supports up to 60 SSL connections with Tweaknews. Higher isn't always better—too many connections can overwhelm lower-end routers or CPUs. Try reducing the number incrementally and test performance changes.

Switch to Alternate SSL Ports

If your Internet provider throttles specific ports, switching SSL ports may help. UsenetWire supports both port 563 and port 443. Head to your connection settings and test both to compare speeds.

Server Hostname Options

The default hostname news.tweaknews.eu automatically chooses the closest Tweaknews server. If you're located in a region far from Europe, test speed differences by contacting support for alternate access points.

Optimize Your Network Setup

For better consistency, connect over Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. Wired connections eliminate interference and can help achieve more stable transfer speeds. Rebooting your router and modem can also refresh stale connections.

Limit Bandwidth Sharing

Pause any active Internet usage—streaming, backups, gaming—to give UsenetWire full bandwidth during sessions. Shared traffic often impacts performance on consumer-grade routers.
